WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?
WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?
Play therapy is a potent form of psychotherapy that utilises play, the child’s natural medium of expression. I provide a supportive environment that allows children to 'play out' their thoughts and feelings and difficulties in the safe container of the play room.
WHY IS PLAY THERAPY EFFECTIVE?
Play therapy harnesses the power of play to help children address and resolve their problems. Through play, the children learn how to cope with their difficulties, whether these be emotional, conduct, peer or attention difficulties. The safe, confidential and caring environment allows the child to explore and express feelings such as anxiety, sadness, or anger.
WHAT COMMITMENT DOES PLAY THERAPY REQUIRE?
Each play therapy session varies depending on the child's individual needs. A session lasts 45 minutes and is conducted in a child-friendly playrooms that offers a variety of toys and creative materials with which the child can express themselves. Sessions occur once per week for upwards of 11 sessions.
WHO IS PLAY THERAPY EFFECTIVE FOR?
Children with behavioral issues, such as aggression, depression, anxiety, or impulse control.
Children experiencing stressful situations like divorce, death of a loved one, relocation, hospitalisation, chronic illness, or abuse.
Children struggling with social adjustment or academic difficulties.

ARTS AND HEALING
I am passionate about using expressive arts such as drama, clay, sand, drawing and art to bring about and support healing.
A SAFE CONTAINER
As a therapist, my role is to hold the space with unconditional acceptance and to be a witness to the work done by clients in the play room.
CARING AND COMMITTED
I see it as an honour to be in the therapist role and will use all of the tools and experience I have at my disposal to support the trust placed in me by the client in that role.
